ZZ - Hair Wizard

It all happens after he left his corporate job. After working in big companies like KPMG and IBM, he realised that the corporate world is not for him.

A random occasion with hair ignited the spark within him. Thereafter, a series of fortunate events led him to where he is today; a blonde specialist and hair cutting expert. He excels at creating natural wearable hair; using techniques he had learnt from all over the world. He apprenticed under one of the best colourist in the industry, Jessi, at The Parlour Singapore.

ZZ studied hair cutting at Vidal Sassoon Academy, Santa Monica, USA - the “Harvard” of hair. In addition, he had training from Oon, former Vidal Sassoon Creative Director, whom he refers to as “Sensei”. Armed with both cutting and colouring expertise, he began attracting a following.

He calls himself the Hair Wizard. He likes to people watch and visualise how he would transform them. ZZ loves his job; making his clients feel amazing and look stunningly gorgeous. “Look good, feel good” as he often say.

During his free time, ZZ does Aikido and plays badminton. Otherwise, he can be found travelling and doing photography.

ZZ currently dwells in the world of magic.

AVAN - Hairy Potter

Avan started his hair styling journey fifteen years ago as an apprentice. He soon fostered his flair for styling different kinds of hair. Finding himself passionate for hair styling, he went to formally train at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. The academy has given him a strong in-depth knowledge of the basics to be even more creative and innovative with his work. As Vidal once said, “The cut itself is the style. It’s very important that the foundations should be right”. Avan believes with the right foundation, he can then enhance the style with colour and texture, adding new dimensions to suit the individual.

In his years as a hairdresser, he had taken part in the Singapore Fashion Week and L’Oreal Professional’s local seasonal collection. He was also one of the Top 10 finalists in L’Oreal Professional’s Style and Collar Trophy, Singapore 2017. Avan is also part of Kevin Murphy’s education team, being a Gold Key, where it fostered his creativity even further, making him love and appreciate hairdressing more.

Avan is known for his balayage techniques, seamless highlights and creative styling by his diverse group of clients from all over the world. His clients love his ability to translate high fashion, editorial looks into everyday wearable styles. Having worked with international brands like K18 and Kevin Murphy, he had the chance to travel and learn from stylists all over the world. These opportunities boost his knowledge on hair science. He had since conducted multiple successful product launches as well as education classes.

In his free time, Avan loves travelling, walking, people watching and surfing YouTube (his favourite channels are Refinery29 and Hair Me Out). Avan loves and appreciates hairdressing as a fun art where there is always something new to learn everyday.

Jo - Hairmione

Joanne’s innate vanity started since she was a kid. Her artistic spirit fueled her curiosity for enhancing beauty and making people shine.

After earning her diploma in 2012, Joanne made a bold choice to pursue her dreams in hair and makeup; diverging from the conventional route of an 'office job.'

Her journey includes apprenticeships with different masters in hair cut, colour, styling and makeup. She also studied in well known academies such as Allilon Education, Wella, Kimage and One Academy. Her skills have been honed through many years of hands-on experience.

She is known especially for creating natural blonde highlights, balayage, and crafting styles that are not only unique but also functional and practical.

Joanne has another magic trick up her sleeves. She does make up and hairstyling for various occasions; including photoshoots, weddings, and events. Her versatility ensures that her clients receive customised hair and exceptional beauty experiences.

During her free time, Joanne loves travelling and immersing herself in diverse cultures, arts and food. She also likes people-watching and engaging in conversations where she learns from all walks of life. This love for exploration and connection outside the salon enriches her creativity and understanding, influencing her work in the world of hairdressing and makeup artistry.

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.”
